My version based on Earl Klugh’s Long Ago & Far Away, sang by James Taylor in his 1971 album (Mudslide Slim). Recorded using a Taylor Nylon guitar with the original ES pickup. I started playing this version in 1978 but I upscaled this to the 3rd fret and did some improvements. There are still some modifications I want to introduce to this version and may be coming up with a retake in my next recordings.

This song is so memorable to me, it reminds me of the late 70s in our province. I love JT’s version and the lyrics. Our house is about a kilometer away from the beach and I love biking in the afternoon going to the beach! I watched the boats and the ships pass by and the song’s lyrics were just perfect. So when I heard Earl Klugh’s take on this song, it was an automatic favorite, I must play it!
